The photos on display at the moment in Beth Café are part of a larger photography exhibition, which was already shown here under the title
ירושלים של זהב
Jerusalem – Stadt aus Gold
The exhibition received much attention and attracted a broad audience.

This exhibition focused on three aspects of the Holy City: man in dialogue with G'd, the Wailing Wall as historical and spiritual point of reference, and the many histories of Israel.

The artist behind the exhibition is the Berlin photographer and journalist Steffen Jahsnowski. He says of himself that he »paints with a camera«. We are pleased to be able once again to present some of his photos at the Beth Café of Adass Yisroel.

Since the 1920s, the community center of Adass Yisroel in the middle of Berlin's old town has been dubbed »Little Jerusalem« because of its religious character and its traditional bond to the Jewish capital. Our congregation was a co-founder and patron of both the Sha'arei Tzedek hospital and the so-called Batei Machassé in Jerusalem. The legendary Professors Wallach and Schlesinger, who were medical directors of the Sha'arei Tzedek at this time, were children of our congregation. This is only one of the many reasons why it is one of the strongest wishes of Adass Yisroel to present Jerusalem and its people carefully and affectionately to the German public.
